The Italian automatic packaging machinery sector has reported total sales revenues of €8.24 billion in 2021, an all-time high that eclipses the previous record of €8.04 billion set in 2019.
The result marks a 5.5% increase on 2020 and is particularly impressive in view of the pandemic-related restrictions that were in place throughout 2021 along with the global shortage of raw materials and components that hindered production and shipments in the final months of the year.
The Italian packaging sector in 2021 counted a total of 633 companies with 36,351 employees, 2% more than the previous year.
